Bintang<\/a>\u00a0is presently\u00a0one of our four adopted animals<\/a>\u00a0and we are happy to have her as part of our family. Rescued in 2014 from poachers, she was just a wee 5-month old sun bear cub when Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre (BSBCC) took her in. How she came to be a captive orphaned bear is unknown, but she was believed to have been kept as a pet after her mother had been killed by the poachers.

Bintang when she first arrived at the centre in 2014. Poor baby was quite traumatized for being kept as a pet in an iron cage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n 
\nNow a healthy 3 year old, Bintang has been in the good care of our friends at BSBCC who recently updated us about her progress. She’s growing to be a healthy and playful bear, enjoying her new home at the centre before she is released back into the wild. Just like other wildlife, she deserves just as much of a second chance at freedom especially after the loss and trauma she faced as a bear cub.

\"Finally,
Finally, Bintang stepped out into the forest enclosure<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n 
\nAt the centre, she is provided with a wide variety of activities to stimulate growth and development in the forest enclosure where she lives. This is to prepare her for the day when she finally returns into the wild and be where she truly belongs. She is said to love climbing trees, just like any wild sun bear and enjoys her day lazing and sleeping on a tree. She has also mastered some important survival skills and made a tremendous amount of progress throughout her time at the centre. Some skills that she has picked up includes searching for insects and fruits in the forest enclosure, making her quite the excellent forager for a bear her age.
