\nGreetings, Readers!
\nYear 2017 has gone by in a blink of an eye and what an amazing year it has been for us! We\u2019re definitely anticipating more incredible things to come our way in 2018, so do stay tuned with us. We\u2019re welcoming the New Year with our 71st Wild Borneo issue with a Heart of Borneo theme<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for your reading pleasure.
\n2017 was a whirlwind of events. Besides launching our new and improved bi-monthly newsletter Wild Borneo back in July 2017, our highlights in 2017 also include launching a few Heart of Borneo (HoB) tours such as the Lemaing 2 trekking and the Ba\u2019Kelalan – Krayan Highlands tours. This is a great addition to our tours as our contribution to community based tourism\u00a0 with the recent of Visit Heart of Borneo HoB logo, which aims to promote the island\u2019s biodiverse rainforest transboundary as an ecotourism destination. You can find out more about the Heart of Borneo and what it\u2019s all about in this issue.
\nLast year, we have also unveiled and opened up our newly built and furnished Borneo Villas at Sukau Rainforest Lodge – a luxurious upgrade from our existing superior rooms. Besides that, we have bought a 7.7 acre land for the purpose of conservation in Sukau under BEST Society, as well as celebrated another achievement by being awarded with the Human Resources Minister Award for the SME Service category amongst others.
\nIn this issue, readers will also be treated to an interview with Ivan Vallejo Ricaurte, the famous mountaineer who reached the summit of all 14 of the world\u2019s 8,000 meters without oxygen tanks. Sukau Rainforest Lodge is celebrating The Year of the Bird with National Geographic and you can find out more about this campaign in this issue.
\nWe\u2019re also happy to announce that our motto this year is \u201cA sustainable world means working together to create prosperity for all\u201d<\/strong><\/em> which revolves around the theme \u201cSustainability\u201d, a mission which we are adopting for the rest of this year.
