{"id":575,"date":"2008-05-29T07:22:38","date_gmt":"2008-05-29T07:22:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.borneoecotours.com\/blog\/?p=575"},"modified":"2023-12-24T23:41:39","modified_gmt":"2023-12-24T15:41:39","slug":"cm-sabah-will-protect-the-environments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.borneoecotours.com\/blog\/cm-sabah-will-protect-the-environments\/","title":{"rendered":"CM: Sabah will Protect the Environments"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">SUKAU: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman reiterated his commitment to environmental conservation when he engaged in a dialogue with the participants of <i>StarYouth&#8217;s P2P Greeniz<\/i> programme at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;While we push for economic development, we also strive to create a balance in sustainable development as outlined in the Sabah Development Corridor blueprint,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;&#8221;The state government remains committed to protecting the environment, and this has been translated into several stands that we have taken, including not allowing the construction of a coal-fired plant in Silam, Lahad Datu, because of the negative impact it will have on the environment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The young P2P Greeniz participants learnt about the Sabah Government&#8217;s environment conservation efforts, and various aspects of eco-tourism, which is the main livelihood along the Kinabatangan River.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Musa was confident that the participants would better understand the roles of different parties within this unique ecosystem now that they have had a glimpse of the lower Kinabatangan floodplain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Musa was accompanied by <i>The Star&#8217;s<\/i> group chief editor Datuk Wong Chun Wai, who is equally committed to environment conservation and youth activities, on his visit to the lodge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Their projects will be presented at the <i>The Star&#8217;s<\/i> Green Day celebration on June 8 at Kiara Park as part of their efforts to push their campaign to the public.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">P2P Greeniz is organised by <i>StarYouth<\/i>, with the cooperation of Maybank.
