KOTA KINABALU, 17 MAY 2016<\/strong> : Albert Teo, Managing Director of Borneo Eco Tours, Sukau Rainforest Lodge and President of BEST Society has recently been appointed as Adjunct Professor (Ecotourism) at Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy (FBEA) of University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), honouring his vast contribution in ecotourism and his expertise in the industry.<\/p>\n

Albert Teo appointed as Adjunct Professor (Ecotourism) at Faculty of Business, Economics and Accountancy (FBEA) of University Malaysia Sabah (UMS)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A small ceremony was held at the campus’ Prime Lecture Hall and was attended by Professor Dr. Rasid Mail, the Dean of FBEA; Professor Dr. Jennifer Chan Kim Lian, the Head of BIMP-EAGA Unit for Tourism Development; Associate Professor Dr. Rosazman Hussin, the head of Ethnography and Development Research Unit; and Dr. Arif Pusiran, Deputy Dean of FBEA. Also present were his family; the University\u2019s research fellows, lecturers and students; General Manager and staff of Borneo Eco Tours; and a student group of Sunway College who happened to be on a familiarization trip in Sabah.<\/p>\n

During the ceremony which was organised by BIMP-EAGA Unit, Teo had a chance to speak in front of the audience on “Ecotourism in Borneo : Issues, Challenges and My Journey Ahead<\/em>“. UMS in the future will work together with BEST Society\u2019s projects in the areas of community development and also to make UMS the center of ecotourism studies.<\/p>\n

A graduate in Economics (Honours) from the University of London in 1977, Albert Teo has been in the tourism industry for the last 39 years since 1977. In October 2006, he was appointed Adjunct Lecturer by Edith Cowan University ECU, Australia, for his contribution to the ecotourism industry, and in 2012, conferred a Fellow of the University for his work with the university as well as his philanthropy, community and social work.<\/p>\n
