- Strengthen the conservation effort on the places visited and support conservation programs and organizations working to preserve the environment.
- Use natural resources such as water and energy efficiently
- Practise recycling and proper disposal of waste products to minimise negative impact to environment.
- Support suppliers including hotels and restaurants who respect the environment.
- Keep to the designated roads and trails.
- Keep noise level low near wildlife habitat. Switch off engines or use electric motors.
Education
- Raise environmental awareness among consumers and suppliers.
- Educate the local community, guides, managers and tourists on the environment management policies of the company.
- Support ecotourism education and training for guides.
- Employ guides who are well versed in local cultures and environment.
- Encourage clients to buy locally made goods to benefit local community and not to buy goods made from endangered animals.
- Give clients verbal and written materials on natural and cultural history on the places visited
- Comply with the rules of the Parks
Cultures
- Respect the cultures of the local places.
- Give priority to local people in employment opportunities and contracts whenever possible.
- Ensure both the host and guests benefit from the experience and transaction.
Safety
- Do not compromise on safety standards
- Ensure equipment and vehicles are regularly checked and maintained
- Where risks of certain tours are involved provide guests with written information and company policies with regards to liability
- Ensure insurance policy has not expired
Promotion
- Do not misrepresent in advertising. Provide accurate information and interpretation.
- Network with other stakeholders, suppliers and end users to encourage them to adopt and support companies who practise code of practice.
