Firstly, I must compliment our guide ‘Jumaidi’– he was simply outstanding, and the best that we have met in 50 years of travelling! With a quiet manner, yet enthusiastic, helpful and respectful, but, best of all, he had eyes like an eagle and wonderful powers of identification. Please pass on our best regards and appreciation for his wonderful company as guide – I hope that your senior management appreciate Jumaidi’s outstanding qualities and reward him accordingly.
Our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our 4 day stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge; it was a major highlight in our 4 week trip, during the month of September, 2014 to Sabah and Sarawak. Good accommodation, good food and great wildlife. Highlights were the sightings of several Orang utans in the wild and we enjoyed watching a herd of about 70 pigmy elephants grazing and crossing the Kinabatangan River. On 15th September we were entertained by a troop of about 30 long tail macaque monkeys crossing a branch of the river on the rope bridge, including the amazing sight of a female giving birth some 40 metres above the river! As she gave birth, she scooped up the baby from her bottom immediately, and within a few seconds the baby clung to the body of the mother.
