Wonderful animal viewing tours
Well organised tours. Worthwhile for a 3/4/5 days trip with 2 different overnight places. Saw turtles laying eggs and the hatching station on Turtle islands. Expect a little less comfort due to the nature site. The Sukau Rainforest Lodge with fantastic animal watching boot excursions were definitely the highlight and are highly recommended. Where else will you meet free living elephants that closely?

We saw a tremendous amount of wildlife, including all the big five (wild orang utans, pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, rhinoceros hornbills and baby crocodiles). Our guide, Rahman, was terrific, very knowledgeable and looked after us really well. The Turtle Island visit was a very special experience, even if the snorkeling was not so impressive (too many dead corals). The food was excellent at Sukau Rainforest Lodge, and OK but not great on Turtle Island. Overall an amazing experience for the whole family and we would gladly repeat it.

Borneo Eco Tours took us on our trip to Sukau - we paid extra to go by boat transfer which was well worth it as we saw 2 herds of Pygmy elephants totalling about 34 en route. An amazing sight! Jamil and Noah were excellent tour guides during our stay at Sukau.Thank you both for giving out family some wonderful tours on the Kinabatangan river!

Just back from two weeks in Sabah, with all but flights in and out organised by Borneo Eco Tours. Organisation was thoughtful and carried through for the whole tour with no problems whatsoever. Guides were great - knowledgeable people and just great company. Although we did not book a personal tour, the spread of activities meant that in most cases we were in very small groups with just one or two other couples/families and in some cases just us. Tour comprised time at Sepilok, Sukau, Kawag Danum and the two day Kinabalu trip. Accommodation good to excellent. Kawag Danum is still in its early days and is more spartan than other places (no bar or pool for instance) and is in a patch of of forest that was partly logged, but still a great place to observe Bornean fauna. Sukau very comfortable (we had a villa unit - v highly recommended!) but currently expanding, so it was a partial building site while we were there. Also the rainforest patch it sits in is very limited and consequently self-guided walking/discovery (which I prefer) is also limited. Would not hesitate to go back with BET.

I'm writing this under 'day tours' as there doesn't seem to be an option for longer tours.
Anyway we booked a 3 day/2 night tour via Borneo Eco Tours and stayed at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge (reviewed separately) and were very impressed.
Our guide (Nextor) was very knowledgeable with excellent English and how they spot the animals hidden away is I'll never know.
The minibus was waiting for us at 8:00am on day 1 as promised, and the tour throughout was well organised and well scheduled.
The river safaris and transfers were great and we took the option of the night safari from the Lodge (65 Ringgit pp) which was very well worthwhile.
We are planning a return visit to climb mount Kinabalu and will certainly be talking to them. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

We spent 3 days at this wonderful lodge. Everything was just perfect. The accommodation was lovely and the food was fantastic, lots of choice and really delicious. we didn't really know what to expect with this trip, this was something I had not done before and so had no idea of what to expect. I was truly amazed at the wildlife we saw and really didn't know that I would be so fascinated by the experience. Our guide, Noah, was fantastic, very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information on what we were seeing. We never got back to the lodge on time as he would do his upmost to make sure we saw as much as possible. The staff could not be more helpful, so friendly and positive. Even if you didn't see much wildlife, which we did, I would never tire of the boat trips on the river, just the surroundings and the noises were so interesting. I cannot recommend this trip enough, if I had known how much I would love it I would have stayed here longer, it really was one of the best travel experiences I have had.

Spent 2nts here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Set on the river the only access is by boat. Loved how the resort is built with minimal impact to the environment. Service was excellent, food yum and the guides were very informative. Rooms were very comfortable and once again in keeping with the environment.

Many travelers visit Borneo to experience the nature and wildlife, and it's hard to imagine a better place than Sukau Rainforest Lodge to serve as your base if that is your goal. The lodge itself is comfortable and friendly, with a staff that works hard to please. Meals are excellent and facilities are clean and updated. The daily boat excursions are the key to the experience, however. All along the Kinabatangan River, the forest teems with wildlife, which the guides are skilled at finding and then describing with knowledge and passion. We saw orangutan, pygmy elephants, 6 species of hornbill, proboscis monkeys and on and on. We even had a visit from a mother/child orangutan pair at the boardwalk just behind the lodge, 1 minute from our room! There are places along the river where the vast palm plantations are visible, and it's sad to know how much forest has already been lost to this development. But that makes this area and its diversity that much more precious and special, and we hope to visit again.

Imagine yourself in the middle of nowhere where everyday is rather special with beautiful smiles and adventures waiting. The new villas were rather nice, although the superior rooms were okay too (I had a peek). The staff made effort to make my stay comfortable, and I learned lots from them about Kinabatangan floodplains.

Loved this place and felt really special. You arrive by boat so already felt like an adventure! The rooms are gorgeous and clean. The food was great also with a good choice. I stayed here for 3 days and was a really great experience to be near so much wildlife and have the privilege of spotting Orangutans and other animals in the wild. I would definitely return and recommend to others.
