Pick-up from your hotel early in the morning and journey 30-40 minutes to Semenggoh Nature Reserve to observe semi-wild orangutans, rescued and rehabilitated for a life in the wild. However, please note that the animals roam free in the nature reserve and are not in cages and therefore sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Afterward, travel 40 minutes to Bengoh Dam and enjoy a scenic boat ride across the reservoir. Proceed to the Bidayuh village of Kampung Nyegol for a local lunch and insights into traditional farming and culture. Visit a local family to learn about Bidayuh traditions over coffee or tea.
Finally, take a boat ride or hike to the Ngapuh Lodge, set in lush rainforest, for dinner and an overnight stay. Lunch and dinner provided.
Please note: Should the water level in the river be too low for the boat to proceed further upriver, guests would be required to hike to the lodge (~30 min walk).
Start your day with breakfast in the misty hills of Borneo and immerse yourself in bushcraft. Learn how the Dayaks utilise the forest as a supermarket for edible plants and hunting, a pharmacy for medicinal plants, and a hardware store for tool-making. Your guide will lead you on a jungle walk, where you may collect seasonal plants like jungle fern or bamboo shoots.
At a riverbank, see a demonstration of ‘bubu’ fishing using traditional traps made from rattan. Experience cooking a meal in the forest with bamboo and a campfire. After a unique jungle lunch, enjoy bamboo rafting on a slow-flowing river before returning to Kuching for drop-off at your hotel. Breakfast and lunch provided.
