Overview

Guas Nabalu Homestay welcome you to discover the beautiful region of Kg Kiau, with its magnificent view of Mt Kinabalu and many cultural and adventure activities. While staying here you'll have the opportunity to learn about their way of life and spend a night in a village and experience the great outdoors of Sabah Borneo as you continue your adventure by climbing the mighty Mount Kinabalu. Spend the second night at the basic accomodation by Sabah Park before conquering the summit the next day.

Day 1

Kota Kinabalu - Kiau

Departure time: 0900hrs

Pickup from your hotel in Kota Kinabalu, drive buy minvan to a Dusun Village (approximately 2 hours), nestled amid the picturesque hills in the shadow of imposing Mt Kinabalu, the highest mountain in Sabah. Along the way, we will make a short stop at Pekan Nabalu market to sample local fruits in season and to stretch our legs. Continue the drive to Kg Kiau. Upon arrival at Guas Nabalu Homestay, you will be greet by a warm welcome by your host family. You will have a chance to visit the local community cottage industry which is the pineapple factory. After lunch, continue to explore the village, learn how they process the local coffee and visit the bee farm. Enjoy the sunset view overlooking the Kiau Valley. Return to your homestay for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Kiau - Kinabalu Park

Wake up early and enjoy your breakfast. Proceed to drive to Kinabalu Park HQ for the Mt Climbing registration. After meeting with your Mountain Guide, transfer to Timpohon Gate at 6,000 ft (1,828m) to start the 4-6 hours trek to the overnight accommodation (dormitory), with common bathroom and restaurant at Panalaban at 10,700 ft (3,261m). Do not forget to look around for some of the flowers and pitcher plants along the trail. Temperature is around 5°C - 10°C

Day 3

Kinabalu Park - Kota Kinabalu

Start ascent at 2 am to reach the summit at 13,435 ft (4,095.2m) in time for the sunrise at 6 am. After photography, return to Park HQ for late high tea and at 1430hrs, transfer back to Kota Kinabalu. Drop off at your hotel in Kota Kinabalu city.
