Join a cruise crisscrossing the mouth of the Santubong River in search of the unique Irrawaddy Dolphin. The Irrawaddy dolphin inhabits rivers, estuaries and shallow coastal areas. The dolphins often swim and dive around small fishing boats in the estuary.
Pick up from hotel, drive from Kuching for about 30 mins to the Santubong Boat Club. Board a small boat and start your cruise at the mouth of the Santubong & Salak Rivers. Go in search of the elusive and rare Irrawaddy dolphin, which is quite common in this area. The Irrawaddy dolphin lives in rivers, estuaries and shallow coastal waters and Santubong is one of the best places in Sarawak to see this unusual looking dolphin. Return to the boat club around noon and transfer by road back to your hotel in Kuching.
Dolphin sightings are not guaranteed. Since you may be exposed to the hot tropical sun we strongly recommend that you bring along a cap, sun shades and sun block. Insect repellent is also recommended. This tour is not always possible during the wet season (November – February) owing to sea conditions.
