Day 1

Tawau - Semporna - Kapalai Island

Arrive in Tawau and take a 2 hour overland journey to Semporna. From the jetty, take another 1 hour boat ride journey to beautiful Kapalai. Upon arrival, get ready for the orientation by your dive master and later, enjoy a couple of shore dives.

Additional Notes

  1. Sipadan Note
    a. Entry to dive or visit to Sipadan island will be subject to approval by the Sabah Park Management thus, diving at Sipadan water is not guaranteed. The total number of divers or visitors is restricted to 120 persons per day. However, we will still apply for guest entry to Sipadan. Please note there is no first come first serve basis. (Only certified divers with a minimum of 20 dives recorded will be considered to dive in Sipadan water. Please bring along your dive log book).
    b. For safety reasons, pregnant women are not permitted to join this tour.
    c. No dive allowed within 24 hours prior to departure flight time.
    d. Snorkel by boat is not available.
    e. Diver guests are encouraged to bring along their own equipment otherwise opt for rental from KAPALAI Dive Centre.
    f. Diver package minimum qualification required: PADI OPEN WATER certified or equivalent.
    g. KAPALAI has no other room category and allocation of rooms is based on a RUN OF HOUSE (ROH) basis. (Choosing the room by number will not be entertained).
    h. Honeymoon/Simple decoration (setting on arrival day only) in the chalet is chargeable at RM 160.00 per setting (inclusive SST).
    i. Combining Diver Package and Non-Diver Package is not allowed (diver has to decide between Diver package OR Non-Diver package throughout their stay).
    j. To purchase Diver Package, one must be a certified/licensed diver.
    k. Minimum diving certification level of AOW (or equivalent) to dive in Sipadan.
    l. All dive packages are excluded permit fees. The cost of one permit is RM450 per person to enter Sipadan.
  2. Boat Schedules (Fixed)
    a. Semporna Private Jetty to KAPALAI Resort – 09:30 am and 12:30 pm
    b. KAPALAI Resort to Semporna Private Jetty – 11:00 am and 13:30 pm
    **Additional fees will be charged for unscheduled transfers.
  3. Standard check-in & check-out time
    a. Standard check-in time is after 1430HRS.
    b. Standard check-out time is before 1130HRS.
  4. Extension night
    Extension night available at surcharge
  5. Additional inclusions for Diver Package only
    a. Only certified divers may participate in scuba diving activities unless they are enrolled in a scuba training program and under the direct supervision of their certified Instructor. Guests need to produce their certification cards prior to diving. Failure to produce certification card/credentials may result in the guest being denied permission to scuba dive until they can prove their certification level. Certified divers minimum requirement is PADI Open Water-recreational dive certificate or equivalent.
    b. All scuba divers must accept full and complete responsibility for themselves, their actions, and their equipment. Divers may use their own gear or rent and use our dive equipment. 
  6. Divers Certification & Equipment 
    - 3 guided boat dives daily – except on arrival & departure day with no dive allowed within 24 hours prior to departure flight time.
    - Tank, weight and weight belt are provided.
    - Unlimited house reef dive in front of KAPALAI Dive Centre*
    - Night dives in front of KAPALAI Dive Centre - for diver with night dive experience only. * (*Unlimited dive and Night dives are unguided dive & must be accompanied by buddy)
  7. Double or Twin Bed
    Double or twin bed cannot be guaranteed and are subject to availability upon check in.
  8. Note: In accordance to the Malaysian Tourism Tax Act 2017, with effect from 1st Sep 2017, all foreign tourists/Non Malaysians will be charged a flat rate of RM10 per room per night in any registered tourist accommodation premises and this is collected directly by the hotels/resorts/lodges upon check in. The Tourism Tax (TTx) is mandatory under Malaysian Law. Tourism Tax is not included in all tour packages.
  9. Travel Insurance
    We recommend that if you intend to go scuba diving, make sure you have an insurance policy that covers this activity. We strongly recommend that all guests take out adequate travel insurance covering accidents, loss caused by cancellations, loss of luggage, personal property, medical expenses, medical evacuation, and weather disruption/cancellations (including activity cancellations). Guests intending on participating in diving activities must ensure their insurance covers them for SCUBA-related activities and has appropriate 'depth ' coverage.
  10. Bring Your Own Bottle
