I worked with Kyra in customer service to put together a custom 8-day package to Sabah that included Kota Kinabalu, Gaya Island, Borneo Rainforest Lodge in Danum Valley, the Kinabatangan River, and the Orangutan sanctuary. Kyra was prompt and courteous and the price was among the most reasonable of the several quotes I got. The actual trip was flawless and was exactly what was advertised, no surprise fees or anything like that. The complicated arrangement of pickups and transfers were always on time and in comfortable vehicles. The tourguides were knowledgeable and spoke good English. Great job!

We enquired on line from Australia. Borneo Eco Tours proposed an itinerary that met our preferred tour options at a reasonable cost. They were on time very time with well maintained and operated vehicles - cars and boats. At different times we had different guides and drivers. All were friendly and knowledgable. We visited attractions in KK, Sepilok, Sukau and Danum valley and saw many birds and animals.
We rate them very highly and would travel with them again.

We booked three tours with Borneo Eco Tours before arriving in Borneo. The services offered by the booking team were fantastic. I asked a number of questions and received quick, helpful responses throughout the booking process. The website is also great with lots of information . Once booked I was provided with a booklet on things to do in advance and what to take on each tour - this confirmed the reviews I had read online that BET is an established, well organised business.
Mount Kinabalu Day Trip: We were collected by Adam (tour guide) with another guide driving the bus. We were provided with a pack and detailed itinerary of all our trips. There were two pairs on the tour so only four in the minibus. Adam provided us with lots of information about KK as we departed the city and proceeded to drive to Mt Kinabalu. We stopped at a market for a look / fruit stop / toilet stop en route. We got some good photos there. Our travel companions for the day were nature enthusiasts and had expressed an interest in seeing the biggest flower so we built this into the day. Also visited the treetop canopy walk (worth it), sulphar baths (didn't go in but don' think we missed out) and the botanical garden at Mt Kinabalu. Adam was so full of knowledge about the plants and wildlife - we were super impressed.
Quad Biking: Again collected at the hotel lobby at the designated time by Jason and Melvin. Driven out to Kiuli for the Quad Biking where we were greeted by Jo. This is a community project and provides Jo and his family with income and involves his local community. Quad bikes were new and clean. Good helmets and googles. There were four on our tour and we covered 20km on road off-road. Jo was fab, really caring and making sure that we were all comfortable going down awkward hills etc. At the end of the tour we were given noodles and juice that his aunt had made us. It really felt like part of the community. There was a random aussie chap on the bus home that wasn't explained who he was but we fell asleep almost immediately. A good way to see the countryside that you wouldn't ordinarily get to see.
3D 2N Borneo Eco-Lodge Tour: Wow. Collected at our hotel by Fernando who was super informative about the orangatuns and asked if I was a model so that obviously helped. Met the rest of the group at Sepilok for Orangatuns. Watched an interesting video about their plight, watched the feeding and headed to the nursery. Very well organised. Sun bear sanctuary next which was ace - they were so active!! Buffet lunch at the Sabah Hotel which was actually very good with lots of choice. We opted for the slightly cheaper option so were bussed to the Lodge whereas the rest of the group (20 people) were taken on boat. Bus had wifi and we were collected by a speedboat for the final 10 minutes. This worked to our advantage as we had a private bus and a private speedboat. Warmly greeted at the lodge which has been awarded a national geographic prize for unique lodges of the world. Room was great, comfy beds and a good bathroom but air con only during the day. Lots of unique crafts int he room which could be purchased. First river cruise in the pm with leaf monkey's, probscisos monkey's and hornbills seen. We had the official tour guide To steering our boat and he was knowledgeable and interesting. We understand the other half of the group didn;t have as good a guide. Food at the lodge was very good with variety. We bought some drinks from the bar and although slightly more expensive than the centre of KK or Sandakan these were not expensive by any means. We did the night cruise and would recommend as it offers a different dynamic to the cruising. You do have some spare time / time to yourself between the morning and afternoon cruises so bring a book / pack of cards. Orangutans happened to arrive in the garden of the lodge so To escorted us all out to see. Back into Sandakan for lunch, rain forest discovery centre and war memorial. All very interesting and we saw more orangutans in the wild.
Tour company are honestly fab and I would not hesitate to book another tour with them.

If you are visiting Borneo then I recommend Borneo Eco Tours as a mentor, guide..tour operator. I just did that (July 21-26 2016) and I give them a five star rating because:
- Their naturalists(guides)are well informed, passionate about their job, pleasant..and have a sense of humour.
I had Shiela in Kota Kinabalu and Dean and Lee in Sandakan and at the Sukau RainForest Lodge.
-Their vehicles..be it vans or boats are in excellent condition, the drivers (called captains) are competent and ensure that rules are observed.
-They own and run a wonderful Lodge Sukau Rainforest Lodge..clean and fitting in beautifully with the environment and I loved their swimming pool filled with rainwater which they sieved through a fabric .canopy.

We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts as the three day experience in the jungle we did was truly magical. Fadhira, the lady with I was in contact with before departing was superb, she made us feel confortable and safe plus she was super fast at replying at every email (there were many, her patience was infinite), not to talk about how amazing and passionate the guides are, you can feel the respect and love for nature in every single word they speak (Fernando is super). I would suggest to do any extra activity is offered as everybody is there to make your experience memorable. The kindness, availability and professionalism of the staff was impressive as well. So thank you thank you thank you for giving us the change to experience nature in all its beauty and greatness whilst being super pampered. We are hoping to see you soon, Gaia and Federico

Started up with 4 days Rainforest Eco Lodge, Kt Kinabalu and Turtle, ended up in letting Eco arrange hotel in KK before and after totally 9n/10d. All worked perfectly from pick up airport to send to airport. Thanks to drivers, guides and especially Cindy who arranged everything. Will definitely choose Eco again if come to Borneo, which might come true, as Sabah much better than expected.

Just a short note to thank you for organising the tours for us , making our stay in KK that much more enjoyable.
All tours were good, we particularly enjoyed the Train trip, but the drive to KK Park was a bit too long, no fault of yours.
Please extend our best wishes and appreciation to Osman and Johnny for looking after us so well.
I already gave my comment sheet to your driver when he picked us up yesterday. I also did not accept the Rm 30 taxi refund from him, because Osman already gave me the money.

We thought we would like to give you some feedback on the city tour yesterday with Oswald ad Felix. We had a lovely day seeing the many sights of Sabah Felix and Oswald were very informative and caring guides. The took extra care of Janne which was much appreciated. Oswald is doing very well with his English language considering he only learnt to speak it at school. We wish them both the best of luck with their futures.
We have been very impressed with Borneo Eco Tours both here and in Kuching and would certainly recommend them to others. A special thank you to you Cindy for your patience regarding me trying to fill out the information form.
