Excludes

Our adventure begins as we pick you up from the Sandakan Airport or your hotel in Sandakan, then we’ll head straight to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. There, you'll get to learn about the rehabilitation effort done at the centre through a short video screening. Make your way to the feeding platform to witness the feeding of orangutans and other monkeys around. You can also spend time observing the cheeky little younglings in an enclosed nursery area.

After lunch, embark on a 2.5 hour journey by speedboat up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Right after checking-in, go on board for a late afternoon cruise in search of Borneo's wildlife and birds. Return to the lodge to savor a scrumptious dinner at Melapi restaurant, followed by a slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide.

Overnight at Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. It will be free at leisure after lunch. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise to check off your wildlife sightings.

Overnight at Sukau Rainforest Lodge

After breakfast, proceed 2.5 hours overland to Lahad Datu before journeying another 1.5 hours on gravel road to Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Enjoy lunch upon arrival before visiting the Lipad mud volcano later in the afternoon. Trek to the elevated bare area of the mud volcano, known to be frequented by wildlife and birds. After dinner, watch an enlightening presentation on Tabin's natural wonders, followed by a night safari to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds.

Overnight at Tabin Wildlife Resort

Take an early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin's rich collection of nearly 300 bird species. After breakfast, visit the bird watching tower and trek through the lush green jungle to Lipad's Waterfall and take a dip in its refreshing pool. Explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax. Return to base in the afternoon. In the evening, take a drive at dusk to find wildlife and birds within the reserve. After dinner, look out for nocturnal wildlife along the trail nearby.

Overnight at Tabin Wildlife Resort

After breakfast, it will be free and easy until check out. Transfer to Lahad Datu Airport for late afternoon flight to Kota Kinabalu.

Camera Fee at SOURC

Note on Camera Use at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre: For any camera with zoom lens from 100 to 400mm, video camera or other video recording equipment for personal use are chargeable at RM10.00 per unit. For any camera (fixed-lens - 400mm and above ) or any film-making equipment are chargeable at RM1,000.00 per unit. Mode of payment is cash only.

Travel light to Sukau Rainforest Lodge

For the comfort and convenience of our guests, it is recommended to travel light by preparing an overnight bag for your stay in Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Complimentary storage in Sandakan will be provided for any extra luggage. (For guests departing & returning to Sandakan Only).

Optional River Night Cruise tour at Sukau Rainforest Lodge is highly recommended to all our guests (available with a small fee)

Things to Bring

Please bring along swimwear, change of clothes, binoculars, drinking water bottle, insect repellent, leech socks, long sleeve shirts and long pants, short pants, raincoat, sun hat, comfortable trekking shoes (two pairs needed), torchlight, personal toiletries and camera.
