Excellent Borneo Trip

Planning a trip to Borneo was tricky. I really didn’t know where to start. My time in Borneo was going to be limited to a week so I wanted to select the key locations and stay at the very best hotels available. I looked at the usual Abercrombie & Kent tours for guidance but the prices were ridiculously expensive - practically TWICE the cost of what I paid for the same trip. So I started my research and found Borneo Eco Tours, a locally based Tour Agency in Borneo. To be honest, I was a little nervous about booking with a company I knew so little about, especially handing over my credit card details, but my concerns were soon put to rest. Working closely with attentive and knowledgeable Cindy Edward, she created a bespoke luxury tour for us in Borneo’s rainforest including the best luxury resort I have ever stayed in. Cindy gave me every confidence in the arrangements and patiently worked with our dates/availability and even guided us on flight connections. Included in our tour price was accommodation, ground transfers, guides, activities, all food and soft drinks. Our tour highlights included visiting the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, early morning water safaris on the Kinabatangan River and spotting wild orangutans in the Danube Valley’s 130 million year old virgin rainforest. Absolute joy of an experience
This was THE highlight of our Borneo adventures. The lodge was amazing and extremely clean. Food was fantastic. But most importantly, the guides were LOVELY. I cannot stress that enough, the guides were absolutely wonderful. Still full of love of what they do. Attention to detail, full of facts and knowledge. Thank you Asley for a great time! We had such a great time that we ended up using the company to book a few other tours across Borneo.
An amazing, once in a lifetime experience.
We had an amazing time staying at the Sakau Rain Forest Lodge. We were met at our hotel in Sandakan and taken to the Orang Utan Sanctuary and Sun Bear Conservation Centre.From there and after lunch we went by boat to the Rain Forest Lodge. The river journey was exciting and as we got closer to the Lodge our anticipation increased. While staying 3 nights at the Lodge we had several boat trips to explore the local wildlife. We were lucky enough to be able to see the Borneo Big 5 on our first full day at the lodge. The Lodge is a great place to relax and the accommodation and food were first class. Our local guides, Paul and Ejon were very knowledgeable and made sure we were well looked after throughout our trip. I would thoroughly recommend the trip, it was amazing!
Borneo Eco Tours and Sukau Rainforest Lodge
Fantastic support from start to finish with Borneo Eco Tours, and they helped with some bespoke elements in addition to our package. Stayed at Sukau Rainforest lodge which was all we could have expected and more. Staff fantastic all round, and guide (Kaz) was a fantastic knowledgeable specialist, passionate about Borneo's wildlife and guests having a brilliant experience.
Sabah wildlife tours
We had many wonderful experiences near Sandakan and at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. All the arrangements we had made in Australia were followed through perfectly, from the time we were picked up at the airport to the time we left. A big shout out to our guide, Dean, who had expert knowledge of the flora and fauna we saw and who shared his passion generously. Dean was able to suggest a few changes to our schedule so that we could maximise our time at the various wildlife sanctuaries. Our guide at Sukau, Kaseem (not sure if we have his spelling correct), was also well informed and passionate. The Lodge itself and staff were great. Both Dean and Kaseem had excellent wildlife spotting skills and we would highly recommend them both.
Amazing 4 day 3 night tour. Ticked off the big 5. Something we will never forget
Had an incredible 4 days with our guide Yunus. The trip was incredibly well organised from start to finish and made the 4 days we spent on the tour really easy. We started with 1 night on Selingan island watching the turtles. Quite basic accommodation but everything you need to be able to see the turtles which was an amazing experience. After the turtle island we went to kinabatabgan for 3 days 2 nights. The whole experience of sukau rainforest lodge with Yunus as our guide was incredible. Hard to put into words how good it was. We saw all of the big 5 and many other animals. We knew before arriving that seeing the big 5 can be quite rare but Yunus knew where to go and at what times to give us the best chance. Which worked great. Yunus and all of the guides are extremely good at spotting things that you wouldn’t notice otherwise. Their knowledge of the local wildlife took our experience to another level. We also went to Sepilok orangutan and sun bear sanctuaries plus the rainforest discovery centre. I would recommend borneo eco tours to anyone as an experience you have to try if you are into nature!
Brilliant trip!
An absolutely incredible adventure! We travelled for 2 months and this was the highlight of my trip!!!! Everything was seamless. The staff at the Lodge were great and the food was excellent. We saw so many animals - the Borneo Big 5!
