Day 1

Sandakan - Sepilok - Sukau Rainforest Lodge (By Boat)

Upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, head to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. There, you'll be treated to an enlightening video show about the conservation efforts done at the centre. Enjoy a ten minute walk in the midst of the rainforest and witness the feeding of orangutans at the feeding platform and observe them at the outdoor nursery. After, head to the Sun Bear Conservation Centre next door after to learn more about the smallest bears in the world.

After lunch, embark on a 2 and a half hour journey by speedboat up the Kinabatangan River to Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Enjoy a river cruise in search of Borneo's wildlife and birds. Return to lodge to savour a candle light dinner on the pier, followed by slide presentation and interpretation by a naturalist guide. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Note on Camera Use at Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre:For any camera with zoom lens from 100 to 400mm, video camera or other video recording equipment for personal use are chargeable at RM10.00 per unit. For any camera (fixed-lens - 400mm and above ) or any film-making equipment are chargeable at RM1,000.00 per unit. Mode of payment is cash only.

For the comfort and convenience of our guests, it is recommended to travel light by preparing an overnight bag for your stay in Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Complimentary storage in Sandakan will be provided for any extra luggage. (For guests departing & returning to Sandakan Only).

Day 2

Sukau Rainforest Lodge

Rise and shine for the morning river cruise up the Kinabatangan River to Kelenanap oxbow lake to view more birds and wildlife. After breakfast, join in the nature walk along the lodge's Hornbill Boardwalk with the in-house naturalist. After lunch, it will be free at leisure. In the afternoon, proceed for another river cruise for more wildlife. Overnight at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge.

Feel free to explore the boardwalk at the back of our lodge at your own leisure. Who knows you may get lucky and spot an Orang Utan!

Day 3

Sukau Rainforest Lodge - Lahad Datu - Danum Valey Field Center

Another early morning is in store as we prepare to journey to Lahad Datu. After breakfast, proceed 2 hours overland to Lahad Datu before our onward journey to Danum Valley Conservation Area (DVCA) via 4WD or coach. Arrival and registration at DVCA Reception & Information Building, followed by a tour of the Exhibition Gallery. After lunch, take a walk along the 500m self-guided nature trail and get to know the rainforest, marvel at its beauty and experience the pristine ambience of the rainforest as has been for hundreds of years. After dinner, proceed enjoy the night drive to observe nocturnal wildlife OR video show on Danum Valley (If weather permits). Overnight at Danum Valley Field Centre, Danum Valley.

Day 4

Danum Valley Field Centre

Rise in the morning for an early walk to enjoy the company of nature. After breakfast, trek through the ancient rainforest of Danum Valley and marvel at its rich flora and fauna. After dinner, proceed to Night Walk in search of Borneo's nocturnal animals. Overnight at Danum Valley Field Centre, Danum Valley.

Day 5

Danum Valley Field Centre - Transfer out

Leave for Bukit Atur and be one of the first to greet the first ray of the sun as it touches the valley. Return to DVFC. After breakfast, depart for a 2.5 hours journey back to Lahad Datu Town/Airport.

Please make sure you are holding an air ticket to Sandakan to begin your trip and a flight back to Kota Kinabalu from Lahad Datu at the conclusion of your trip. Ask us if you're unsure what to book and we'd be glad to help!

Note on Travel Insurance

Customers are encouraged to purchase their own travel insurance before travelling to Borneo.
