Our experience at the Rainforest Lodge exceeded all our expectations, starting right from the beginning when we were met by our guide Yunus at the airport. Everything was impeccably organised up to the last detail.
All the staff are enthusiastic and very welcoming, which enhanced our experience.
The rooms are extremely comfortable and clean. The food choices are varied and we looked forward to our meals.
Of course, the highlights revolved around our wildlife experiences. We were shown so much wildlife and learnt so much from our guide. The in-house naturalist talk on orangutans is definitely not to be missed. We really appreciated that we kept the same guide throughout our stay as he took care to try to show us as many different species as possible.
Last but not least, the sustainability, local employment, reforestation and wildlife preservation aims of Borneo Ecotours resonated with us.

We had a package for Turtle Island, Sabah, and Sarawak organised by Clare and from start to finish the communication was excellent. She organised everything so well and her constant emails were sure appreciated. On the ground Farhan was an excellent guide and lovely person. All the accomodation was great as were the activities. Seeing the Borneo Big 5 was amazing. We had a great time overall and loved Borneo.

Every aspect of the trip—from accommodations to transfers—was seamless and well-organized. The guides were outstanding: passionate, professional, and impressively knowledgeable. Absolutely fantastic trip to Utan Rainforest Lodge with Borneo Eco Tours. This was our 6th time visiting Borneo but the first time for 14 years. We have always booked our trips with BET and I’m glad to say they are still as wonderful as ever. The Utan lodge is very new but everything was first class - comfortable accommodation, lovely staff (including the staff at Lahad Datu office) , amazing food and most importantly of all fabulous wildlife safaris with our brilliant guide Gbril. We saw some amazing sights including close up view of the Irrawaddy dolphins feeding, flying foxes and Leopard Cats. Only downside was we missed the Ground Cuckoo but gives us a reason to return someday. Overall it was a fantastic trip s d highly recommended.

Setting up the tour with Clareassah Ambu at the main office was so easy. Although we had a 14 hour time difference, emails were responded to promptly, questions were answered, changes were made and she set my trip exactly as I wanted. We had four personal guides, Jaimen, Shareezam, Laslie and Eddie. Each was exceptional in their knowledge of the area, answering of questions, ensuring we were safe and making sure we knew exactly what was going on with the next tour activity. We stayed at Sukau Rainforest Lodge, Utan Rainforest Lodge, Borneo Rainforest Lodge and Kinabalu Pines Resort. Each was unique and exceptional. The food was excellent and the tours at each lodge were thorough and displayed an exceptional aspect of the area. We saw so much wildlife, including elephants, and numerous bird species. I highly recommend using Borneo Eco Tours. They are founded locally, practice exceptional ecotourism, hire locals for all positions, and proudly share their remarkable country.
