Really fantastic

Everything was on time and smoothly run. The guides were exceptional! Namely Jimmy (Turtle island), Ferhan (transfer to Sepilock) and Kazree (very conscious and knowledgable in the orangutang sanctuary, also the sun bears and the RDC). We thoroughly enjoyed the whole trip and would highly recommend it all. The food was also good. Thank you all!

If you need a tour company I couldn’t recommend this highly enough.

Although we booked everything through an agent in the Uk we learnt that Borneo Eco Tours were the organisers of everything once we touched inland. We had private transfers and our plans given to us throughout our stay. The staff were incredibly reliable, helpful, and so so knowledgeable. We absolutely loved Vincent. He was our guide from Sepilok to Sukau rainforest lodge. His English was perfect and his wildlife knowledge was second to none. Vincent took us out on the river safaris and his ability to spot wildlife from a huge distance meant we were incredibly lucky to see such a variety. We kept punching ourselves. Idwin drove us about a few times, very polite and efficient. Also thanks to Jad and Ashraf for looking after us after Vincent had to move on. These locals made our holiday it is far to say.

Great Wildlife Trip

We would definitely recommend a trip with Borneo Eco Tours, very easy to book and really prompt and helpful replies to any queries I had. Well organized, with as much time as possible, out with knowledgeable guides looking for wildlife. We were thrilled to see the Big 5 and lots of beautiful birds. A real highlight was seeing a mum and baby Orang Utan on our last morning at Danum Valley!
We especially enjoyed our stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge where we were made to feel very welcome and were impressed by the Eco-Lodge ethos. It was very special to stay right on the Kinabatangan river and enjoy wildlife spotting by boat. The accommodation at both lodges was more luxurious than we had expected with a great choice of delicious food. Would highly recommend the Borneo Big 5 trip.

Unreliable

Booked a tour with them as part of a cruise ship expedition. Didn’t turn up and claimed they were running late. Not good enough so avoid at all costs.

An excellent trip - Highly recommend Borneo Eco Tours

I did 4D, 3N where 1 night was on Turtle Island. Farhan was my guide from start to finish and I could not have asked for better.
Watching the mother turtle lay her eggs, the eggs, be put into the hatchery and some hatchlings released to the water was something magical. Through this experience, Farhan made sure that I was standing in a good spot, would take my phone to make sure that I got the best possible photos I could and really looked after me. On our night, 25 turtles came onto the island, 18 lay eggs, for a total of 1,142 eggs. (You arrive at Turtle Island before lunch and then the mother turtle comes up onto the beach at night. There isn't a lot to do during the day, but you come to see the turtles, so bring a book) That said, there is a video and an information centre that you look over in the early evening. I highly recommend making this a priority on your adventure.
I then spent the next 2 nights at the Sukau Rainforest Lodge and Farhan was my guide again here (with another 11 people). We went on 3 river cruises, 1 nature walk and we had a presentation on the Orangutang. During the river cruises, Farhan was a wealth of information on different types of birds as well as the monkeys we saw and he always gave plenty of time for everyone to get photos and to make sure that he was clear on pointing this out. We saw 4.5 of the big 5. The elephant was the 0.5. We heard them trumpeting, I saw a trunk and a silhouette of the elephant but we didn't see them fully to get a photo not for lack of Farhan trying. We went back and forth multiple times and we knew they were "right there" we could hear them, but couldn't quite get there.
I would also like to shout out to the whole team. Everyone I came into contact with, be they Max who organised my itinerary, to the bus drivers, the captains of the boats, Melanie who co-ordianted at the lodge, everyone was responsible for food and drinks were warm, friendly and welcoming. I was particularly impressed with how just about everyone you met was doing something "slightly different", but they brought everything together to be seamless.
I would highly recommend the area and Borneo Eco Tours, in particular as the Service Provider. Thank you All

Excellent experience

We had an excellent time on this tour! Would particularly like to highlight our guide Jad, he ensured that we had a great experience and we even got to see the Borneo Big 5!
Plus the rooms and facilities at Sukau lodge were really good - would recommend.

A great trip

We booked a 4D/3N trip with Borneo Ecotours and it was a great trip from start to finish. The lodge itself is very comfortable and the food great. Our guides for the wildlife trips were knowledgeable and great at spotting everything from crocodiles to gibbons to millipedes and all the hornbills we could wish for. All the staff were great. Would thoroughly recommend.

Phenomenal wildlife viewing under exceptional guides

Such a profound experience getting to witness these incredible animals in the wild.

We did the 3 day/2night tour and it was exceptional. I know that we were extremely lucky to be able to see the Borneo Big 5, especially getting to witness these incredible Bornean pgymy elephants cross a river.

Obviously with nature you’re not guaranteed to see everything, but you are guaranteed to see some of the unique wildlife of Borneo and the guides are exceptional at spotting the local fauna.

Our guide Paul was phenomenal, with an insane eye for detail (still don’t know how he managed to spot that rhinoceros hornbill, from the boat he was operating in the rain!), very insightful, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with.

100% will be coming back to do another tour in the future.

IN THE JUNGLE WITH BORNEO ECO TOURS

We had a fantastic time not only on the Sandakan City Tour but at Sukau Eco Lodge. The resort was brilliant, the staff amazing and our Guide Jay was the best. He was professional, had a good sense of humour, extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the region and in the first day he got us the Borneo Big 5. He took us on three x 2 hour boat rides up the Kinabatangan River and tributaries and in three separate occasions followed a family of elephants. He was amazing and sighted Proboscis and Macaque monkey families before us, spotted Rhinoceros Hornbill’s seemingly from miles away and pointed out the Alpha Male orang-utans that we hadn’t seen. It was a great trip and we wouldn’t hesitate to do it again and recommend it to others,
