Fantastic experience in the middle of nature

Fantastic experience, impressive nature ( seen the big 5 three times) extremely helpful and nice staff. We’ve enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Also our guides Yunnus and Yann, they spot all the animals for us on our guided trips.
Beautiful private villa’s with a lot of wildlife

Returning to Sabah, My Special Place!

This was another amazing tour with with BET. Have used this company several times, and everything worked perfectly, from the booking process and communication with the lovely Audrey, the travel agent assigned to me, to the final transfer to Lahad Datu, after my Borneo Wildlife Safari in Sukau and Tabin, to fly back to Kota Kinabalu.
As a single traveller I did find it a little difficult to to book, and had to wait until other larger groups booked, so that I could join in, without paying double. This was tricky as I had to fit this trip in with other tours with friends in Sabah. With so many people, especially older women, travelling today, BET might consider some "Singles Deals" to attract this growing market, as other companies do.
As usual, my 2 night stay at Sukau Rainforest Lodge was memorable. So much wildlife to see on land and on the Kinabatangan River, including 'resident' mother and baby orangutans, Lucky and Hope, at the lodge, and two sightings of the pygmy elephants! Managed the Big Five - elephant, proboscis monkey, orangutan, rhinoceros hornbill and crocodile - once again!
Wonderful accommodation in a deluxe room, though missed out on a villa this time, as I was unable to book earlier. Fantastic staff. All so kind and helpful. Highly experienced and knowledgeable local guides and rangers. Food amazing, and all diets catered for. Lovely to catch up with Bar supervisor, Noah, Head chef Teddy and In house Naturalist Suhailie!
I enjoyed my time at the newly opened Utan Rainfoest Lodge (Tabin) as well. but as there is so much construction going on this has effected the sightings of wildlife I remember from last time in this area. I'm sure that once the lodge is completed and gardens established, the wildlife will return in abundance. We did see the rare Irrawaddy dolphins, and the Borneo Ground Cuckoo.
Rooms were spacious and attractive (apart from windows facing building sites) but are not fitted out completely yet. Staff were very kind and approachable, nothing too much trouble, but some guides and trainees lack the knowledge, experience and communication skills of BET's sister resorts. This will come with time. I would consider visiting again but not for at least a year or two.
Food was less varied than Sukau, but some of the best I've experienced in Sabah! An abundance of local fruit, available all day. was a bonus! The pool was lovely, and a welcome respite from the heat!

So many memories!!

great Sipadan diving

We booked a 4-day, 3-night tour to Sipadan. Borneo Ecotours booked us into the Borneo Divers Mabul Resort. This was a place geared for diving and it had very good facilities for scuba divers. It was a 4-min boat ride from Semporna. The accommodation was either shared bungalows or rooms in a three-storey building. We had a room in the building. There was a swimming pool with filtered sea water, so it was pleasant because there was no chlorine smell.

The room we stayed in was clean, very large and comfortable. The only problem is that the air conditioner faced the bed and so it could get quite cold. All the meals were taken at the Mabul Resort restaurant, which served good buffets. We particularly enjoyed the barbecued crabs and the fresh coconut juice drunk from a coconut. The meal included very fresh fruits.

The Resort organised scuba dives to Sipadan and around. They were professionally done and it was great to see schools of bumphead parrotfish near Sipadan. Non-divers accompanied divers to Sipadan for snorkelling sessions. So there was interesting activities for all.

An unforgettable experience taken to the next level by a team that are knowledgeable, fun and kind.

An incredible trip end to end - once in a life time experience with excellent care from the Borneo Eco Tours team.

We were met at the airport by Jai our guide and had a brief stop in Sandakan before heading to the jetty for our trip to Selingan (Turtle) Island. Heading into the Sulu Sea in a convoy of speed boats excited our children no end. Jai was our family’s guide and nothing was too much trouble. He got us the best seats at dinner, the best viewing for turtle watching etc. Selingan in paradise. Accommodation is basic but clean and works - comfy bed, good AC, your own bathroom. We had two rooms between four of us. Food likewise is plentiful, wholesome and fine for a day (rice, curry, stir fried meats, baked fish etc). On Selingan we snorkelled with clown fish, saw monitor lizards in the wild, saw turtle hatchlings appear naturally in the sand and make their way to sea and then saw a turtle lay her eggs. My children were allowed to name the turtle (Sandy) as she’d never laid on Selingan before. The trip was incredible and we thought it couldn’t get better but it did!

We transferred back to Sandakan(bit of a bumpier crossing back - fine but not sure if do it on rougher sea!) and met our new guide Rahman who would take us to Sukau. After lunch we took a boat out to sea and down the Kinabatangan River stopping to see crocodiles and Proboscis along the way. Sukau is heaven - you’re met by the whole team in welcome, given a cold towel and a drink and introduced to the lodge ( it was like being in White Lotus without the murder). We had two deluxe rooms which were comfortable and spacious. During our time we managed to see all of the Borneo big five from the river or the jungle board walk going for morning, afternoon and after dark river tours. Nothing was too much trouble here - I left my sunglasses by the pool and they arrived at our table at dinner later that day. The staff are to a man excellent and proud of the resort. Rahman however was our star - even taking us out in a small boat as a family when the rest of our group were elsewhere. His eye for wildlife, knowledge and sense of humour were fantastic and made our holiday. This is a more luxury experience than Selingan - food is delicious and varied, there’s a riverside bar as well as a lounge bar so we complimented our evenings with great wine and mocktails. You have a sarong in your room which you’re encouraged to wear for dinner which gives a fun vibe.

We’ve arrived back exhausted but elated we would 100% recommend this trip. Our kids are 7 and 11 - youngest was tired at times but pushed through. Oldest has come away inspired to travel more and see nature up close. Thank you to Lisa, Jai and Rahman for an brilliant trip.

A little bit of everything....

Loved our time at Sukau Rainforest Lodge. Seeing the sights by water is so much fun and the guides were really excellent in viewing critters from a far and bringing the boat in for a closer view. It was really awe inspiring for them to see this little 'something' and sure enough it was something we would want to see up close. Loved it! The entire package just worked well. Lovely accommodations, delicious meals, enough activities to keep one as busy as desire, and abundant viewing of various animal species.

Orangutan River Experience.

We spent 3 nights on a boat from Pangkalanbun with our guide Diaz and the brilliant crew. We stayed on boat no 5 which had an open deck, and 2 air conditioned cabins ( soo needed) Our time on the boat was magical and we loved cruising and spotting the varied wildlife.

On our way to feeding stations we had a couple of awesome intimate encounters with orangutans. The feeding stations themselves were extremely busy and crowded with tourists.

We loved visiting the conservation centre and planting trees- highly recommend this.

Some memorable guests v crew card games and workouts! And the most amazing food. Overall a very memorable trip.

Just a fantastic trip

This was the perfectly organized tour with professional guides and beautiful experiences. All worked as planned.
I booked the trip a year ago and was faced with some flight changes. The operator could easily plan around them.
Good accommodation, able and punctual drivers, knowledgeable guides and great sights all around.
