We had the most amazing tour with our fantastic guide Syahfil. He gave us the tour of our lives, going well above and beyond to make sure we had every opportunity to see as much as possible. In fact we were lucky enough to see all of the Borneo Big 5. Orangutans, proboscis monkeys, crocodiles, Pygmy elephants and the rhinoceros hornbill. The whole tour was great value, we were fed constantly and it was very well organised. I can’t recommend Borneo Eco tours enough!

We’ve just completed the 4D 3N Sandakan Wildlife Safari as part of our honeymoon. We were blown away by the service and organisation of Borneo Eco Tours.

The logistics were spot on, itinerary’s ran perfectly, and you were never left waiting for the next activity/pick up, with just enough time to relax in between!

Service from the whole team was incredible. Special mention to our guides, Jimmy on Selingan turtle island & Ashraf for the 3 days on the Kinabatangan River was a superstar.

The accommodation at Selingan island was basic & hot! But on a conservation island don’t go expecting luxury and you’ll be fine. On the other hand Sukau Rainforest Lodge is incredible, the villas are beautiful and the whole lodge being absorbed in nature is great.

We were lucky to see the big 5 on the Kinabatangan River, along with otters, lots of birdlife & an amazing night cruise where we saw a Buffy Fish Owl, and 2 different civets (Malay & Common Palm) - our guide Sandram had amazing eyesight, this was the highlight of our trip! Thank you also to host Noah for organising a private night tour for us as it was our honeymoon!

The food throughout the trip was plentiful & delicious, especially the soups at Sukau lodge which we had to ask chef for the recipe!

All in all, an unforgettable trip, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend using Borneo Eco Tours & we hope to return one day to explore more of the amazing island of Borneo and the tours BET offer.

The guides were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and fun, making every excursion enjoyable and memorable. The resort and lodges were beautiful and comfortable, and the staff provided outstanding hospitality — always helpful and welcoming.

The river cruises were conducted in small groups of no more than eight people per boat, which made the experience feel personal and authentic rather than a typical tourist excursion. All transport — whether by boat, jeep, or bus — was perfectly organized, so we never had to worry about a thing.

We have just returned from our 3D2N adventure up the Kinabatangan River with Borneo Eco Tours. Everyone, from the initial communication with Maxwell to hotel transfers were a delight to deal with and made the trip what it was. They even went the extra mile organising a small surprise birthday celebration for our daughter!

Sukau Rainforest Lodge is fabulous. Nestled in the jungle, our two villas were perfect with the side by side layout being ideal for our family of 4. The food was delicious and plentiful, with Teddy (head chef) doing a fabulous job of showcasing local ingredients and cuisine alongside some western dishes.

We had Mason as our guide for the entire three days. He is engaging and informative, with his passion for wildlife conservation and guiding evident from the outset. He was keen to share his knowledge about the local area and wildlife and answer our many questions, always with a good dose of humour. Nowhere was this more evident than our river cruises.

Finally the wildlife; what a treat! We were fortunate to spot 4 of the Borneo Big 5 while in Sukau; 3 of which we managed to spot on our first evening river venture. Just being on the river at dawn and dusk is enough in itself, but to then spot all the different wildlife in their natural habitat really is the icing on the cake! We unfortunately didn’t get to see any Orang Utan while up the Kinabatangan River but were lucky enough to catch a wild mother and baby on our last day with BET at the Rainforest Canopy Walk. We wouldn’t have been able to catch sight of any of these animals without the keen eye and dedication of Mason and Roslem, our boat captain.

We saw the Borneo Big 5!!!!! Our guide, Yaya, was the best. With 30 years of experience, perfect English, and a friendly way of interacting with people, he deserves 6 stars. The lodging was great considering it is in the middle of nowhere (but that’s where the wildlife is). Room was clean and comfortable. Bed was big and pillows were soft. Food was plentiful and had a good variety to choose from (including desserts—coffee was dark and strong favored just as I like). The only real downside side was the side trip to Gomantong Cave. If I had known about the cockroaches I would not have booked it.

My 2 friends and I contacted Borneo Eco Tours to extend our vacation after a group trip in Borneo. We were hoping to increase our opportunities to see Orang Utans in the wild. Borneo Eco Tours set us up for 3 nights at Deramakot in the Bornean Rain Forest. We stayed at very basic accommodations run by the National Forest Service. However individual tour companies arrange for your food, jeep and guides once there. We were all pleased with the food and we had the best jeep there. But best of all were the wonderful guides! We had a jeep driver, a spotter and a guide. All 3 were great at spotting and pointing out animals and birds. Our guide was so knowledgeable and likable. It was obvious that that these guys love their work and love sharing the wildlife with their clients. The experience was all we hoped for and we saw many OrangUtans, Leopard Cats, Civets, and more. We saw so many beautiful birds and interesting insects. I highly recommend Borneo Eco Tours. They responded to all our questions promptly and thoroughly and planned a great trip!
