World Travel Market (WTM) London is a travel trade and meeting avenue for many parties from all over the world, especially those in the tourism industry. Borneo Eco Tours is a frequent visitor and exhibitor at the event and almost every year, we participate in the exhibition to strengthen ties with existing partners and build relationships with potential ones.

Last year, we sought to brush up a new talent to represent BET at WTM London 2016, and team member Mohd Hanif, our Senior Tour Consultant was given the grand opportunity. We couldn’t have chosen a better candidate to represent us.
 

 
WTM London 2016 was attended by 12 Federal and State Authorities, 15 Hotels and Resorts and also 19 Tour Operators from Malaysia, including BET. It was a great chance for Hanif to gain exposure and the experience was definitely a valuable one for him. Here’s what he has to say about his experience there:
“First of all, I’d like to thank the management for selecting me to represent Borneo Eco Tours at the World Travel Market London from the 7^th – 9^th November 2016. I really learned a lot during the 3 day event while I was there together with our General Manager, Mr. Baton Bijamin.
One of the things I got out of the event was enhancing my presentation skills. I learnt how to effectively present about our products, hold a conversation with our potential clients and guests and at the same time, read their body language. It was especially refreshing meeting new people while I was there.
Other than that, representing BET at the WTM London 2016 gave me the wonderful opportunity to be exposed to the culture and way of life there. The people there are friendly and you can find people from different walks of life there too. There were Indians, Asians, Middle Easterners and of course, Europeans.
Our accommodation was great (where?), mostly because its location was very strategic. Finding a place to eat was also easy as there were Halal eateries nearby. Our hotel also had its own Halal restaurant which was nice. We were not worried about going around in London either because we had easy access to the public transportation there, which was very convenient. There was also a sense of security while we were walking through the streets of London.”
 

 
Whenever an opportunity like this comes by for any of our team members, we really encourage them to take it up as a great learning platform. The exposure will definitely help them to grow not only career wise, but also as an individual.
