2010 is a year marked with outstanding achievements for Borneo Eco Tours group Of Companies. Borneo Eco Tours has taken a leap in line with our triple bottom line sustainability mission. With the abundance of natural resources and strategic location in the biodiversity-rich Borneo island, it is no doubt that Borneo Eco Tours activities has played a pioneering role in responsible tourism and in promoting Sabah’s rich biodiversity.

A leader in the field of ecotourism and supported by a great team of people, BET Founder, Mr. Albert Teo has been able to achieve much both domestically and internationally. During the year Albert was appointed a resource person for Asian Productivity Organization (APO) in Fiji covering the success story of “Ecotourism and Marketing Strategies of Green Tourism”, and a keynote speaker at the 2nd Global Geotourism Conference on the topic of “Geotourism attractions of  Sabah”.  Those are the many personal achievements that highlight his resume. To top that, Mr. Albert Teo was also re-appointed as the Board of Advisors of TIES (The International Ecotourism Society), and continue to contribute to tourism through the marketing Committee of Sabah Tourism Board for the term April 2010- Sept 2012.
In early 2010, Borneo Eco Tours was named finalists in 2 categories namely the Best Inbound Tour Operator and Best Tour Package in the Malaysia Tourism Gold Awards 08/09. We also celebrated Sukau Rainforest Lodge’s winning of 17th World Travel Awards in the category of Asia’s Leading Green Hotel. A cocktail reception for the local Industry partners and government agencies was held at Magellan Sutera Resort and Spa, Kota Kinabalu on 26th Nov 2010 to mark 20 years of service excellence. The auspicious occasion was graced by our minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Datuk Masidi Manjun.
It was indeed an appreciation from the management of Borneo Eco Tours and Sukau Rainforest Lodge to the unsung partners who have contributed to where we are today.

Catching up with the ever increasing standard of tourism industry, the room upgrading at Sukau Rainforest Lodge has finally come to a completion. Guests will now enjoy comfortable, safe and more environmental facilities. Besides enlarging all guest rooms by 70%, new features include a separate sunroom with tea lounge area and garden view.

K-Block material was used widely for renovation, assuring efficient ventilation from the fluctuating temperature outside, termite proofing, fire retardant, providing good sound insulation and prolonging the life span of overall structure of building.

Sukau Rainforest Lodge was elated to receive another international recognition in Hitesh Mehta’s World’s top eco lodges book; “Authentic Ecolodge” which features 36 ecolodges around the world. This book gives some illustration on eco-lodges designs, guidelines and educational stories of some of the worlds’ foremost eco-lodges.
The author “Hitesh” is one of the world leading authorities, practitioners and researchers on ecotourism physical planning and both architectural landscaping aspects of eco lodges.

For corporate social responsibilities, our Non Profit Organization, Borneo Eco-Tourism Solutions and Technologies Society (BEST) has successfully launched and accomplished 10 significant environmental and community projects since mid year until last December. A total amount of RM123, 957.00 was spent in implementing this project.
