A farmstay with rural lifestyle is yet to be the main attraction for travellers in Borneo. But as Dalai Lama puts it “Once a year, go somewhere you’ve never been before”. The experience of staying in Kiulu Farmstay, a little sweetheart tucked away in a little town called Kiulu, has made Chris Walker, a travel blogger, impressed by the warmth of the local’s hospitality.
Chris stayed at the Fig Tree for two nights, not eager to leave his urban convenience behind at first. We all can relate to that, having no source of internet or phone signal in the area can definitely leave a person angst! He went on a village walk, gotten to know the locals, visited local schools and ate local food prepared by the local women.
In the end Chris left a good note on his adventure here at Kiulu Farmstay calling it “the absolute highlight of my time in Sabah.”
Read more on Chris’ experience in the farmstay, slept at night with geckos on the walls and the sound of nearby river, and be woken up by the chirps of the birds the following morning.
