On 23rd February 2017, our Managing Director Albert Teo gave an insightful talk on ‘Value Creation in Ecotourism’ to Conservation Biology and Tourism Management students of University of Sabah Malaysia (UMS). The talk was aimed to help the students understand the need for ‘sustainability’ in tourism development, in hopes that these young generation will put it into practice in the future.

In conjunction with Mr. Albert Teo’s 40th year involvement in tourism, BET has also launched two programs for UMS students who are studying Conservation Biology and Tourism Management.
First off, the Guide Apprentice Program is a program that provides an opportunity for Conservation Biology Undergraduates to become an apprentice guide. These young talents will be sponsored by BET and the program also aims to improve the standard of professional guiding service, as BET is all about excellent quality guiding.

Besides that, we are also offering the Tourism Management Undergraduate Scholarship Program to the Tourism Management students of UMS. This program is established to support selected students who are in their second and final year by providing them with a one off financial aid.

With the launching of these two programs, we hope to create a pathway for UMS students who are keen to be a part of ecotourism, especially in Borneo Eco Tours. We also want to increase our professional talents in the organization and in turn, provide the students with substantial exposure in tourism as well as employment opportunities in Borneo Eco Tours.
