It looks like our family just keeps growing. Bintang the Sun Bear isn’t the only new addition to our family. We have also recently adopted Nicky the dolphin! Our Managing Director, Mr. Teo’s recent visit to the Dolphin Discovery Centre in Bunbury Western Australia ignited his interest in marine mammals which led to Nicky’s adoption.
Nicky is a beautiful Bottlenose Dolphin whose life story will melt any heart. What makes her super special is the fact that she had endured a fatal shark attack in September 2007 and survived it. Although her dorsal fin was badly damaged from the attack, Nicky’s one tough dolphin and she recovered within a couple of months.
She’s known to have amazing maternal instincts and though she may not have calves of her own, she is usually seen taking the role as the ‘auntie’, babysitting the young ones born to the other dolphin mums in her maternal group.
Borneo Eco Tours currently have four adopted animals under our wing and we will definitely grow our wildlife family in years to come. We will further our efforts to support wildlife conservation not only in Sabah, Malaysia but also in different parts of the world.
