Sukau Rainforest Lodge Listed in National Geographic Adventure’s ‘Top 50 Ecolodges 2009’
Sukau Rainforest Lodge (SRL) of Malaysia is once again in the limelight when it was featured in National Geographic Adventure’s magazine as one of the 50 Top Ecolodges (Jungle Lodges category). The recognition reaffirms Sukau Rainforest Lodge’s warm hospitality, unique jungle experience and most significantly, the lodge’s commitment to responsible tourism. In collaboration with Borneo Eco Tours and Borneo Ecotourism Solutions and Technology (BEST), SRL supports local communities, connect their guests to cultures on an authentic level, create impactful conservation initiatives, and increasingly place adventure at the center of the of the experience.
The 20 rooms award winning Sukau Rainforest Lodge is located at the edge of the Lower Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the endemic Borneo Pygmy elephants, eight species of Bornean hornbills and ten species of primates including orang utan, proboscis monkeys among others.
Managed by Borneo Eco Tours, Sukau Rainforest Lodge was also recently nominated for two award categories at the 15th World Travel Awards in 2008. It was named as one of the nine World’s Leading Eco-Lodges and one of Asia’s 5 Leading Green Hotels.
