Every year, Borneo Eco Tours (BET) will hold an in-house ‘Motto Competition’ that encourages our team members to search and select a quote/slogan/motto that we feel can leave a positive impact on everyone in the organization. The motto that we select has to resonate with the theme given and 2017’s theme is ‘Sustainability’ in conjunction with Year of Sustainable Travel for Development 2017 as announced by UNWTO (UN World Travel Organisation).

The competition is open to all team members including those in the Sandakan branch as well as Sukau Rainforest Lodge, and for our most recent competition, we have received the most participants which was 50!

This year, Borneo Eco Tours has chosen the motto “Sustainability is us doing more good, not just less harm” a quote by Jochen Zeits. The motto was one that was suggested by our team member, Mohd Hanif (congratulations on the win!). This motto will help us to carve the way towards a more sustainable Borneo Eco Tours and eventually, a more sustainable tourism industry in Borneo in the future.

This is just the beginning of our initiative in celebrating the 2017 International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development (IY2017), an effort made possible by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

2017 is looking to be a great year for us and we’re ecstatic to be part of IY2017!  We are ready to take the big leap and do our best to do more good this year, and we’re inviting you to join us and do the same.
