Silam and Mt. Danum near Lahad Datu (on the East Coast). Some of the plants found in an ultramafic forest are considered special and rare, such as some species of pitcher plants and orchids, and botanists expect to discover more new species in these areas.

Make a stop at the Ulu Kinabatangan Information Centre (KIOSK) where you will be greeted by the conservation staff. Feel free to read through the information about the area, its communities, history and others.

Thereafter, take another 2 hours journey to Imbak Canyon Conservation Centre (ICCA). Upon arrival, stop by at the Information Centre building to listen to a short briefing on the rules & regulations and watch a video presentation at the Conference Room before proceeding to check-in and rest, or take time to go visit the Imbak Canyon Conservation Area Gallery. Enjoy a scrumptious dinner at the dining hall at 1900hrs and thereafter, enjoy the night walk with the ranger around the centre.

Start the day early at 0630hrs for a bird watching activity around the centre in search of birdlife that can be found in Imbak Canyon. Don’t forget your binoculars! Thereafter, return to the centre to enjoy some breakfast in the dining hall with a view of the forest.

Begin the forest exploration at 0900hrs with a short briefing on safety by your guide and proceed to the Ara Suspension Bridge along the Ara Trail and trek to the famous Imbak Falls. Along the way, discover the small streams which run through the virgin rainforests of Imbak Canyon, as well as various types of flora.

After 45 minutes, you are expected to arrive at the Kapur Suspension Bridge, the starting point of Keruing Trail where you will continue trekking, crossing small rivers until you reach the Big Belian Tree. Marvel at its heights as you take a short break there before continuing your journey for another 1.0km before finally arriving at Imbak Falls. However, if the weather doesn’t permit for a night drive, there is also a video show or research presentation as an optional activity held at the centre. After your activity, return to your room for a rest.

Start the day with an early morning walk around the centre. Thereafter proceed with breakfast at the dining hall and later, before we check-out and return your room keys at the Reception Office.
